As you may be aware the Brisbane Fishing Online site has recently been offline whilst we were to move our site to a new server. The reason was because our site was producing database queries that were putting too much load on our shared webhosting server environment and so our webhosts temporarily turned our site offline. We quickly responded and got the site ready to upgrade our site to our own server to eliminate these problems, however knowing our luck, the hosts have had trouble moving our site to this new server and that is why our site has been offline this last while.
{xtypo_warning}The issue is unfortunately still not resolved {/xtypo_warning}
The hosts are contacting the server software company as there is an issue with the software (one of the largest server softwares used in the world as there seems to be a bug) that wont let them restore the site on the new server. The hosts (one of the best in Australia) are trying to figure out the problem and when they do will let us know to try once again to move our site to the new server. This new server will have dedicated ram, more diskspace and let us set the server up to how we want, however it is double the cost of our previous hosting.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused everyone, and for us it could not have happened at a worse time as we are trying to get our BRC registrations underway. We have been up without much sleep the last few days to try and sort this but there is just not much we can do. Everyone is doing their best to resolve this issue and get our site to its new home :)
Cheers,
Brisbane Fishing Online
As our site continues to grow we are faced with the challenge of keeping up to speed with our hosting needs. However, due to the amount of activity on the site recently we managed to put a significant amount of cpu load on the server and so our webhosting account was temporarily suspended.
{xtypo_alert}We are now looking to upgrade our webhosting to not have these issues again.{/xtypo_alert}
Hopefully this should all happen without any disruption to the site in the next few days, so until then we have tried to limit the load so the games section is offline and possibly may make some other sections as well. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.
{xtypo_alert} Well after some very long sleepless nights we have now successfully (touch wood) upgraded our site. The new framework has better performance, security and ability to integrate new features. So, even though the site is slightly different in layout, the backend of the site has been totally recreated (including databases and all files - hence the reason for the downtime). {/xtypo_alert}
There is still a fair bit of tweaking and bug fixing to do, but we will work through these over the next week or so. If you do find something that isn't working how it should be, or not in the right place etc please let us know in the forum in the Website Relaunched category.
Thanks
BFO
Hi Everyone,
Thankyou for your interest in the Brisbane Fishing Online site and we are sorry for the issues you have experienced with registration. It has come to our attention that there has been some issues with the registration process on our return from our time away. These issues have now been resolved and registration is now working correctly.Â
So for everyone that has tried to register in the last two weeks or so, if you let us know your username I can manually activate your account or you can simply register again. If you still have problems, don’t hesitate to let us know so we can correct the issues. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and hope you enjoy your time on the site.
Regards,
John
