For a few weeks running, a variety of Strike King Lures have been available on the Brisbane Fishing Online website. Courtesy of Robert Searing from Searing Tackle, these well known and respected American made lures will be making their presence known to Australian fish very soon. Used largely in the professional Bass circuits in the States, Strike King Lures present a large range of lures including poppers, soft plastics, spinner baits, lipless cranks and buzz baits all suitable for both our fresh and saltwater fish species. So far the verdict from various BFO members has been great!

This fashionable looking piece of tackle is the superb entry-level plug reel from Pflueger. Being the most affordable model in the Pflueger range doesn't mean the features of the Echelon have been diminished. Packed in to the eye-catching ruby red case of this little reel are all of the innovations one would expect from the Pflueger stable. Field testing of the Echelon was undertaken in some very demanding fisheries on tough fish. It passed with flying colours.

Those long time favourites of a lot of Aussie anglers, the venerable Ugly Stiks have added convenience to the durability of the range. Known for being the toughest fishing rods made, due to the Howald process used in the construction of the Ugly blanks these rods have proven their worth in the toughest fishing conditions Australia has to offer. Recent advances in non-metalic ferrule technology have allowed the integrity of the Howald blank to be uncompromised in two piece rods. These rods give added convenience to travelling anglers, especially those who need to carry fishing gear aboard aircraft.
Pushing the little SP60A2 Ugly Stik Gold to the red line on a tough pelagic gamefish. This rod is truly a good all rounder.

A relatively new spin reel to the Shimano line up is the Technium 2500FA. Based on the Stradic series, the biggest thread of DNA the two reels share is the worm oscillation system, making for that very smooth system we have come to expect from Shimano. This also makes it very slow which suits the braid users of the world.
This is the perfect size for most people doing the soft plastic style of fishing. With 4 bearing (3+1), alloy spool plus a spare one and new knuckle style handle, it makes for great value at under $200.00. Worth having a look at when you are next at Tingalpa or Underwood.
