1. ENTRY FEE AND REGISTRATION: Entry forms not correctly filled out will render the entrants ineligible for the prize and trophy draw. All entrants must report to the Event HQ before commencing fishing in the competition to receive the event briefing and sign Competitor Participation form. Upon successfully reporting to the Event HQ each angler will receive a unique competitor's number which will be used to identify them throughout the competition. Ensure you keep this number and return it to organisers at the prize presentation for inclusion in the lucky door prize. No number means no chance for lucky door prize. 2. WEIGH-IN (PHOTO ENTRY SUBMISSION ONLY): All entries for the event will be by digital photo submission which allows for catch and release of all fish. You may keep fish to eat if you so desire but NO physical fish will be measured at the Event HQ. All photo entries to be eligible must include in the same photo:
- the whole fish shown
- a pre-approved measuring device (ask at the pre-fish Briefing at Event HQ to find out if yours is allowed (eg brag mat etc) with clear reading of the millimetre measurements
- your Competitor Number (given to you at the pre-fish Briefing at Event HQ)
- the event's Unique Item (given to you at the pre-fish Briefing at Event HQ)
Photo’s will be uploaded to a laptop at Event HQ so please remember to bring your camera's USB cableas even though we have a multi-card reader, if we cannot read your card then your entry will not be eligible. Viewing a photo from the screen of the camera will not be counted as an entry. The photo must be of good resolution and quality (no camera phones please) to be able to zoom in and read millimetre readings.Only Jpeg's, Bitmap and Gif digital file formats will be accepted. The judge’s decision is final in assessing these entries and no further appeals will be undertaken. If you need any further clarification or help on the photo submission process please ask the event organiser's at your pre-fishing briefing at Event HQ. a) Photos of fish must be submitted within 24 hours of its capture. c) All fish to be eligible must adhere to the photo submission requirements d) Any catch not correctly submitted by end of final weigh-in and therefore outside of the official finish event time will be deemed ineligible. e) No more than one fish of the same species can be weighed-in on any one day. f) Fish of any size (eg undersize/oversize) can be photographed and submitted, however, if you keep any fish caught during the competition please note you still must adhere to all recreational fishing regulations governed by the DPI, including size and bag limits, as well as the cutting of the pectoral fin of reef fish. g) Any fish submitted with any missing fin except pectoral fin will be ineligible. h) Mutilated fish are not eligible for submission. A mutilated fish is defined as any fish rendered incapable of swimming (eg bitten by shark, beheaded, fillet removed etc).
3. FISH: Responsible fishing is encouraged and we recommend all surplus (one species allowed to be submitted per day) fish to be released for future generations to enjoy.
4. PROFESSIONALS: All professional anglers are eligible for entry in to the competition provided only that they abide by the same rules as amateur entrants.
5. EQUIPMENT: a) All fish submitted must be taken on rod and reel or handline. There is a limit of 3 fishing lines per angler. b) Deck winches, bang sticks, guns, weapons, cockpit harpoons or any form of net are not allowed to be used in the event, except nets may be used for the collection of bait.
6. CHARTER BOATS: Charter boat skippers/ owners are responsible for ensuring, fish caught on their boats by competitors are submitted by the person who caught the fish. This is in the fairness and spirit of the competition.
7. PRIZES: a) To be eligible for prizes you must have entered a valid entry form and paid the entry fee. b) One fish can only win one prize c) We would encourage all entrants to be present at the prize presentation ceremony. If you cannot make it to the prize presentation, you must nominate someone beforehand to accept a prize if you win. In the case of lucky door prizes, if your number is drawn out and you are not present and have not previously nominated someone then we will redraw that prize. de) In the unlikely event, the Organisers reserve the right to change advertised prizes and trophies without notice to the entrants.
8. BOAT COMPETITORS: a) All appropriate vessels must have current Queensland registration or registration recognised in Queensland. b) Boat skippers must be the holder of a Queensland boat licence or a boat licence recognised in Queensland suitable to the type of vessel they are operating (eg. Recreational Marine Driver Licence) c) All vessels must carry all the safety equipment as required by Maritime Safety Qld. d) In the interest of safety it is strongly recommended that all vessels are outfitted with a two-way radio and EPIRB. e) Boaters must have a functioning kill switch on their outboard and safety lanyard, which they must wear while the boat is planing. The Organisers reserve the right to disallow unsafe boats.
f) All participants should ensure that they have insurance coverage for their vessel (including, but not limited to: kayaks, canoes, inflatable boats etc). By signing and agreeing to the event's Terms and Conditions you are agreeing to only use a vessel that has a Marine Insurance policy or is covered under an extension on a Home & Contents Insurance policy.
9. SAFETY REGULATIONS: a) Each angler is required to carry one phone and/or VHF radio in case of emergency. b) Boats should remain a cast apart (30 metres) while fishing. c) Fair and reasonable conduct ashore and afloat is required of all entrants d) Care of fellow competitors is of utmost importance. If an angler or boat is in distress it is expected that other competitors will assist. e) Fisheries and Boating Officers are invited to attend to police safety regulations, registration, relevant boating legislation as well as alcohol and drug laws. f) The decision to fish is left solely to participants who do so at their own risk.
10. CANCELLATION: The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone weigh-in sessions and/or the event for any reason. If the event needs to be postponed, a new date will be set and registered participants notified. Due to the management and logistics of organising the event no refunds can be made if the participant is unable to compete on the revised date. In the unlikely event of cancellation of the competition, a management fee of half the entry fee will be retained by the Organisers. Once an angler has registered and then they wish to withdraw there are no refunds.
11. FRAUD: Any evidence of fraud or any action in breach of the rules and goodwill of the competition, will be dealt with severely and the angler will be immediately disqualified.
12. ORGANISERS DECISION: a) Any protest must be made in writing and presented before the end of competition. b) Any action, incident or situation not covered by the rules and conditions written in this entry form shall be determined by the Organisers if or when those conditions arise. c) The Organisers shall have the absolute right to exclude anyone from the competition.
13. PHOTO & VIDEO RELEASE: You understand and agree that photographs or video of you may be taken during the event by the Event Organisers, sponsors or media and may be used by them for commercial purposes without royalties or prior consent.
14. RELEASE OF LIABILITY: Read carefully as these Terms and Conditions are a legal document which affects your rights. When you sign to agree to these Terms and Conditions at registration you release and discharge Australian Fishing and Boating Pty Ltd trading as Brisbane Fishing Online, Event sponsors and their legal representatives (the "Released Parties") from any and all liability for any injury, damage or other loss sustained by you or caused by you which may arise from my participation in the event, including, but not limited to, any claim you or your assigns may have for loss, personal injury or casualty of any kind, injuries, damages or other loss sustained by you caused by the negligence or strict liability of the Released Parties. This release and indemnity continues forever and binds your heirs, executors, personal representatives and assigns. Event Organisers may change the Event format and conditions at their discretion. This agreement applies to any such changed format and conditions.
