On the 15th and 16th of May, dozens of anglers converged on Manly at the brisk hour of 4:00am to compete in the Brisbane Fishing Online event, the Moreton Bay Classic 2010. With thousands of dollars worth of cash and prizes up for grabs, the stage was set for some tough competition. After a quick briefing and the issuing of their unique items from the admin at event HQ, the crews were off in search of good waters and hopefully even better fish!

As luck would have it the weather on Saturday was sensational and many crews used this to their advantage heading far and wide over the bay. With a varied range of species on offer as eligible target species, game plans had been laid early by many competitors for the duration of the weekend. Many anglers even stayed out overnight to maximise their chance at the prize pool for this event.

On Sunday the entries started rolling in early. Many tired but excited anglers began to appear around event HQ as the day warmed up (a little bit), cameras in hand ready to register fish. It was great to once again that thanks to Brisbane Fishing Online's dedication to this virtual method of registering fish, many category placing fish were able to be released to fight another day. By midday the event HQ was bustling. Dozens of anglers were uniting to share stories of success, defeat, cold nights and cold ales. Many new aqquaintances seemed to have been formed, and helped by a hot BBQ and cold drinks, the event HQ certainly had a great feeling of camaraderie and a lack of ego always present at Brisbane Fishing Online events.

Moreton Bay Classic 2010 - Charter Spots On Offer! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Brisbane Bay Tours

Brisbane Bay Tours are planning to run an early morning charter and an evening/night charter each day of the competition and is looking for entrants who are keen to get to the competition winning fish to team up with us each day. We will work in with the prevailing tides and other fish feeding factors  to get each charter at least one tide change to maximise chances of being there when they are biting.  I might be giving our tactics away but at this stage we are considering these places to target. There are still a lot of prawns about in the lower reaches of the Bay around the Islands and where there is food there is fish hunting them down! We will target Snapper, Jew, Tailor, Bream and Flathead around the islands and reefs off Victoria Point for those species and likewise at the front rock wall of the Brisbane River there have been some great Snapper and Jew in particular chomping on the big run of prawns this year in the river. That allows us to get out fishing no matter what weather using the shelter of the islands or the river to ensure our team will have the best chance of hooking into a big one for the weigh in.

Of course we have other spots that we will hit but you will have to be with us to know where they are!

Departure and return times will be worked out with the customers. Aiming for a solid 8 hour trip or longer or shorter by negotiation. We have four positions available on each of the early morning and evening night trips and can stretch that to five if you want to fish with your mates. Individual fishers welcome and we will fit you in with other BFO members Special price of $126pp for BFO members includes rods, bait and tackle, snacks and freshly made sandwiches to keep your strength up. Welcome to use your own lucky gear!

Give me a call and we will book you in on 07 3134 3260 or email brendon@brisbanebaytours.com.au
