TIME AND VENUE:
Event Headquarters (HQ) will be at the Colmslie Recreational Reserve, Col Gardner Drive, Colmslie. The Event Headquarters is where you need to report for your pre-fishing briefing and also for weighing-in and prize presentation.The Brisbane River Classic (’BRC’) fishing competition runs from 8:00am Friday 12th December - 4:00pm Sunday 14th December 2008, with prize and trophy presentation at 4:30pm.

ENTRY FEE:
$30 Adult (12 years and older), $15 Junior (12 years and under on or before 12/12/08). Juniors may only compete in the Junior BRC. The one-off entry fee must be paid by 10am the first day you fish to be to be eligible to weigh-in that day. Entry forms not correctly filled out will render the entrants ineligible for the prize and trophy draw. All entrants must report to the Event HQ registration area before commencing the competition to receive briefing and sign registration form. Upon successfully registration each angler will receive a competition number which will be used to identify them throughout the competition. Cash payments will only be accepted at the Event Headquarters and will incur a $10 surcharge.

WEIGH-IN:
Weigh-ins will be conducted only at 4:00-4:30pm each day for all species. All fish weighed-in are required to be taken away by the entrant from the weigh-in venue.
a) Fish must be weighed-in the day they are caught if before 4:00pm, after this time they must be weighed-in at the following day’s weigh-in session otherwise these caught fish will be deemed to be ineligible for the prize draw.
b) Any fish deemed to be more than 24 hours since being caught in the opinion of the official judges will be disqualified - THE JUDGE’S DECISION IS FINAL.
c) All fish to be eligible must be weighed-in on the Organiser’s official scales.
d) Any catch not weighed-in by 4:30pm on Sunday 14th December 2008 and therefore outside the official finish time will be deemed ineligible to be weighed-in .
e) No more than one fish of the same species can be weighed-in on any one day.
f) All fish weighed-in must be in a washed and clean condition.
g) The use of plastic, woven plastic or woven fibreglass bags is prohibited.
h) No undersize fish will be accepted for weigh-in. All fish caught during the competition must adhere to all recreational fishing regulations governed by the DPI, including size and bag limits, as well as the cutting of the pectoral fin of reef fish.
i) Any fish, presented at weigh-in with any missing fin except pectoral fin will be ineligible.
j) Mutilated fish are not eligible for weigh-in. A mutilated fish is defined as any fish rendered incapable of swimming (eg bitten by shark, beheaded, fillet removed etc).

FISH:
Responsible fishing is encouraged and we recommend all surplus (one species allowed to be weighed-in per day) fish to be released for future generations to enjoy.
a) All fish caught should be recorded on the competition Catch Cards provided to each team. Recording of the species, length, girth,xxxx and location should be done to aid in the study of our river and fish stocks. A clear photograph should also be taken.

PROFESSIONALS:
All professional anglers are eligible for entry in to the competition provided only that they abide by the same rules as amateur entrants.

EQUIPMENT:
a) All fish presented to the weigh-in must be taken on rod and reel or handline. There is a limit of 3 fishing lines per angler.
b) Deck winches, bang sticks, guns, weapons, cockpit harpoons or any form of net are not allowed to be used in the event, except nets may be used for the collection of bait.

CHARTER BOATS:
Charter boat skippers/ owners are responsible for ensuring, fish caught on their boats by competitors are weighed-in by the person who caught the fish. This is in the fairness and spirit of the competition.

FRAUD:
Any evidence of fraud or any action in breach of the rules and goodwill of the competition, will be dealt with severely and the angler will be immediately disqualified.

BOUNDARIES:
The boundaries for the competition are from the mouth of the Brisbane River up river to 500 metres below the Wivenhoe Dam wall. Entrants may fish anywhere in between these limits. Fishing is restricted to 50m into each of the river’s tributaries. The Brisbane River mouth fishing limits is demarcated by an intangible North Mark (27°22'40.84"S, 153°9'37.00"E) and South Mark (27°22'49.10"S, 153° 9'51.44"E); no fishing is to be done outwards into Moreton Bay from these marks. Entrants are advised to seek authority from private owners if intending to fish from the bank of privately owned land.

PRIZES:
a) To be eligible for prizes you must have entered a valid entry form and paid the entry fee.
b) One fish can only win one prize
c) All prizes must be claimed at the prize presentation ceremony at 4:30pm Sunday 14th December 2008
d) Winner of the lucky entry prize must be present at the prize presentation ceremony at 4:30pm Sunday 14th December 2008
e) In the unlikely event, the Organisers reserve the right to change advertised prizes and trophies without notice to the entrants.

PRIZE CATEGORIES:
WEIGH-IN (FISH CAN EITHER BE LIVE OR DEAD)
1) LONGEST BREAM
This category will consist of any legal Pikey or Yellowfin Bream. The prize for this category will be presented to the angler who weighs-in the longest Bream over the course of the competition. One Bream per angler per day able to be weighed-in.
2) BEST MISCELLEANEOUS FISH
This category will consist of any legal fish species caught over the course of the competition (excluding stingrays, shovel-nose rays and eels). The prize for this category will be presented to the angler whose fish scores highest in the ranking table.
3) JUNIOR BRC - BEST MISCELLANEOUS FISH
The Junior Brisbane River Classic is restricted to entrants 12 years and under on or before 12/12/08. The winner of the best Junior Miscellaneous Fish will be the child whose fish scores highest in the ranking table (table will be put on website to view).

PHOTO & RELEASE
4) LONGEST CATFISH
This category will consist of any Salmon-Tailed or Blue Catfish. The prize for this category will be presented to the angler who provides a photo of the longest Catfish caught over the course of the competition. One Catfish photo per angler per day able to be handed in. Each photo must feature the unique item given to each angler at the competition briefing and clearly show the length of the fish with the whole fish in shot.
5) LONGEST SHARK
This category will consist of any legal shark species in Queensland. The prize for this category will be presented to the angler who provides a photo of the longest shark over the course of the competition. One Shark photo per angler per day able to be handed in. Each photo must feature the unique item given to each angler at the competition briefing and clearly show the length of the shark with the whole shark in shot.

BOAT COMPETITORS:
a) All appropriate vessels must have current Queensland registration or registration recognised in Queensland.
b) Boat skippers must be the holder of a Queensland boat licence or a boat licence recognised in Queensland suitable to the type of vessel they are operating (eg. Recreational Marine Driver Licence)
c) All vessels must carry all the safety equipment as required by Maritime Safety Qld.
d) In the interest of safety it is strongly recommended that all vessels are outfitted with a two-way radio and EPIRB.
e) Boaters must have a functioning kill switch on their outboard and safety lanyard, which they must wear while the boat is planing. The Organisers reserve the right to disallow unsafe boats. All participants should ensure that they have insurance coverage for their vessel (including, but not limited to: kayaks, canoes, inflatable boats etc). By signing and agreeing to these rules at the briefing you are agreeing to only use a vessel that has a Marine Insurance policy or is covered under an extension on a Home & Contents Insurance policy.

SAFETY REGULATIONS:
a) Each angler is required to carry one phone and/or VHF radio in case of emergency.
b) Boats should remain a cast apart (30 metres) while fishing.
c) Fair and reasonable conduct ashore and afloat is required of all entrants
d) Care of fellow competitors is of utmost importance. If an angler or boat is in distress it is expected that other competitors will assist.
e) Fisheries and Boating Officers are invited to attend to police safety regulations, registration, relevant boating legislation as well as alcohol and drug laws.
f) The decision to fish is left solely to participants who do so at their own risk.

CANCELLATION:
The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event or weigh-in sessions. In the event of cancellation of the competition for any reason, a management fee of half the entry fee will be retained by the Organisers with the balance of the entry fee being refunded. Once an angler is registered and they wish to withdraw there are no refunds.

ORGANISERS DECISION:
a) Any protest must be made in writing and presented before the end of competition.
b) Any action, incident or situation not covered by the rules and conditions written in this entry form shall be determined by the Organisers if or when those conditions arise.
c) The Organisers shall have the absolute right to exclude anyone from the competition.

PHOTO & VIDEO RELEASE:
You understand and agree that photographs or video of you may be taken during the "BRC" by the Event Organisers, sponsors or media and may be used by them for commercial purposes without royalties or prior consent.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY:
Read carefully as this is a legal document which affects your rights. When you sign this form at registration you release and discharge Australian Fishing and Boating Pty Ltd trading as Brisbane Fishing Online, Event sponsors and their legal representatives (the "Released Parties") from any and all liability for any injury, damage or other loss sustained by you or caused by you which may arise from my participation in the "BRC", including, but not limited to, any claim you or your assigns may have for loss, personal injury or casualty of any kind, injuries, damages or other loss sustained by you caused by the negligence or strict liability of the Released Parties. This release and indemnity continues forever and binds your heirs, executors, personal representatives and assigns. Event Organisers may change the Event format and conditions at their discretion. This agreement applies to any such changed format and conditions.
